Administration
On behalf of
the office staff and myself at the Southern Miss Student Health Services, we
would like to inform you of things that you might not be aware of as a new or
existing student.
• HIPPA – a new federal law that requires the Southern
Miss Student Health Services to protect your health information and to keep
everything CONFIDENTIAL; you will be required to sign a form and given a copy of
our Notice of Privacy Policy
(PDF) upon your first visit.
• You as a patient have rights and responsibilities.
•
We accept walkins but encourage appointments. We do not make same day
appointments. Average wait time for walkins is 15-20 minutes. If you have not
visited the health center before you can download and fill out the
the health history form. Please bring the filled-out form along with you to
expedite your visit.
• You NEED health insurance! We provide you with
links and phone numbers for insurance information. We do not endorse one above
the other.
• If you need medical care when we are closed, visit Afterhours/Emergency care.
•
Maintaining accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health
Care, Inc. for more than 12 years demonstrates the high quality of care
available here at Southern Miss Student Health Services. We are very proud of
our AAAHC accreditation!
Our staff is here to make
your health care visit a good one; if you have compliments, suggestions, or
complaints, please let me know. If you have questions, please, e-mail or phone
me and I will be glad to answer.
Cordially,
Connie
